Sara works solely in the area of family law which includes divorce, child custody, paternity, post-divorce matters and agency adoptions. Sara was born and raised in Marshall and graduated from the University of St. Thomas with a Bachelor’s in Business Administration & Accounting in 1993. She attended William Mitchell College of Law and received her law degree in 1996.
Sara is a member of the Minnesota State Bar Association including the Family Law Section, Lincoln-Lyon County Bar Association and the 9th District Bar Association. She is a member of and served on the executive council of the Family Law Section for many years, including serving as Chair of the Section from July 1, 2017 to June 30, 2018. She has also presented locally and state-wide on family law issues and served on various state-wide committees related to the legal practice. Sara is also a member of the Association of Family and Conciliation Courts, an interdisciplinary and international association of professionals dedicated to the resolution of family conflict
Sara is active in the Marshall community and has served on numerous local boards including United Way. She has also participated in the Blandin Community Leadership Program and was a University of Minnesota Humphrey Institute Policy Fellow in 2001-2002. More recently, Sara was elected to a second four-year term on the Marshall School Board.
Sara lives in Marshall with her husband, Jim and their three children. She enjoys spending time with her large, extended family, travel, reading and yoga.
